Barcelona wants Messi back!

Barcelona and Lionel Messi were two entities that couldn’t be apart, at least most of the people who are aware of football believed so. Nevertheless, that unthinkable phenomenon happened last summer.

The newly elected president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta whose main agenda of the election was to retain Messi at the club infamously declared that they were parted ways with the greatest player the sport has ever seen. Messi left the club crying and PSG took the chance to sign Messi.

Since then, Messi is a PSG player. Barca appointed Xavi as their new manager and in this transfer window, the club backed the coach to buy whoever he wants. The intention is to build a team for the future at the same time, fight for every possible title. So far, Barca did great by signing plenty of players.

They brought Andreas Christensen and Frank Kessie for free, signed Raphinha from Leeds for a fee of €58 million. Already secure the signing of Robert Lewandowski from Bayern by paying €45 million and on the verge of securing the service of French defender Jules Kounde. They’re not done yet as Chelsea’s Azpilicueta is also on the radar. Dembele extended his contract by signing a new deal till 2025.

The team looks great but to Barca, Messi is Messi. He’s a player in another team and the club won’t go after him this season but the president reiterated that they’re thinking about the idea of re-signing Messi next season when his contract with PSG will expire.

Xavi was asked about that too and he supported the idea also. Nothing is confirmed yet as Messi is preparing himself to achieve glory with his present club, however, no one can say what will happen in the future.
