Chris Carson retires due to neck injury

Christopher Dewayne Carson, renowned as Chris Carson, decided to retire due to a neck injury. He played running back (RB) for the Seattle Seahawks. The Seattle Seahawks released him with a failed physical designation on Tuesday.

Carson has decided to retire after he failed his physical, NFL Network Insider reported yesterday. The lingering injury ruined the 2021 season for him. He had appeared in only four games in the last season before the injury sidelined him.

However, he was hopeful for his return during this season. But the nature of the injury shows that it would not be possible, ultimately. Still, he won’t announce his retirement officially lest he dramatically recovers!

The 27-year-old RB represented his team for five seasons. He started 48 of the 49 games he played in. Carson’s premature career comes to an end with 3,502 yards on 796 carries and 24 touchdowns.

He is arguably one of the most underrated and unobserved talents in the NFL. He was selected in the seventh round of the 2017 draft out of Oklahoma State. He’s also a back-to-back two-time 1,000-yard rusher from the 2018 and 2019 NFL seasons.

Reportedly, the Seahawks will continue re-signing Rashaad Penny to a one-year, $5.75 million deal and rookie running back Kenneth Walker III, as a replacement for Carson.
