Joshua vs Usyk: Both Prepared For The Big Rematch

Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk will face each other at their rematch on August 20 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Joshua was defeated by Usyk in a twelve rounds bout in London last September. Winning the rematch, Usyk would defend while Joshua would reclaim the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight titles.

The winner of this rematch will most likely face Tyson Fury in an undisputed fight for all the titles. Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder’s co-manager Shelly Finkel believes that the right amount of money from Saudi Arabia can confirm the deal.

Both fighters are getting prepared with training rounds ahead of the rematch. While training in Dubai, Usyk has been reported to look massive gaining additional weight. The 35-year-old Ukrainian shared footage of his training online. Former world heavyweight champion Joseph Parker believes Anthony Joshua can be dangerous too in the upcoming 12-round fight.

Joshua couldn’t take advantage of his home environment in London while that will be absent in the rematch. Still it’s notable that the British was previously in a similar situation. He was knocked out in the seventh round of the first meet against Andy Ruiz Jr and took his revenge later via unanimous decision in 2019— that too being in Saudi Arabia.
