LIV Golf To Confirm Seven New Entries Including Cameron Smith

As a silent clash between the PGA Tour and the LIV Golf is going on, the Saud-backed LIV Golf continues its attempts to lure top golfers with attractive offers to overtake its rival.

Greg Norman’s LIV Golf has already secured top-notch golfers like Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau- to name a few. This time, the 2022 British Open champion Cameron Smith is rumored of signing a $100 million contract with LIV Golf along with six more PGA Tour players.

The event will officially announce seven newly confirmed names including the top ranked Australian this weekend, The Telegraph reported. The announcement would come following the end of FedEx Cup playoffs in Atlanta. Prior to the FedEx Cup playoffs, Smith declined to comment on the trending rumors about his switch. Smith’s withdrawal from the BMW Championship over hip discomfort last week made yet more buzz among critics.

If it comes true, it would be arguably the most significant deal for the circuit as the No. 2 ranked would be the highest-ranked player to join LIV Golf so far. All seven new members to join the next LIV Golf Invitational Series next month in Boston are reportedly players from the St. Jude Championship, the first event of the PGA Tour playoffs.

Meanwhile, legendary golfer Tiger Woods met influential players of the PGA Tour in Delaware last week. The agenda was how to develop the PGA Tour and make it the best in professional golf.
