The CEO of LIV Golf, Greg Norman confirms the leniency toward players wearing shorts in the tournaments of the Liv Golf Invitational Series.
Wearing shorts on the tour has been a matter of contention for quite some time now. The PGA is yet to allow its players to wear shorts in the tournaments. However, they gave the green signal on wearing it during practice sessions and pro-ams in 2019.
LIV Golf is a new tour in the competitive scene of golf. Led by the CEO Greg Norman, it is operating as a direct rival to PGA. Established just this year, LIV has formulated a set of rules and formats that has appealed to many of the leading golfers in the world. This, along with the massive prize pool, has resulted in many top-ranked players from the PGA tour, including Cameron Smith, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, and Bryson DeChambeau defecting to LIV Golf.
LIV Golf continues to break the boundaries set by PGA as Greg Norman has just announced the decision to approve wearing shorts in the competitive play of LIV. Since the start, Norman has expressed his goal to make golf as accessible as possible to the general mass. This decision of leniency on the players’ dress code was a step towards achieving that goal. “It’s official,” Norman stated. “As of tomorrow, LIV Tour players will be able to wear shorts. The first league and tour to make it official.”
