LIV Golf Reportedly Set To Sign Broadcast Deal With Fox Sports

Saudi-backed circuit ‘LIV Golf’ has been snatching top professional players luring them with a handsome amount of money. However, it hasn’t made a broadcasting deal to bring its events on television yet. This time it’s all set to confirm one with Fox Sports, reported Golf Week citing multiple sources. The LIV Golf will purchase air time for its exclusive tournaments.

Greg Norman, the CEO of LIV, told ESPN a couple of weeks ago that they had been talking to different networks. The list reportedly includes NBC, CBS, Apple, Disney, Amazon, and Fox Sports who arguably agreed under some sort of pressure. Media companies usually pay sports leagues as rights fees to broadcast their products.

However, LIV Golf will not receive any payment, instead, it will have to pay to buy time on the channel. Criticism will be raised around the already-controversial circuit for not being able to attract sports media with its products and convince them for a financial deal.

The agreement with Fox Sports has come too close but has not been officially signed yet. The confirmation awaits and it’s not clear if it would be in action by next year or earlier. LIV Golf has three more events to run this year, all of which are scheduled to take place in October, in Bangkok, in Jeddah, and at the Trump National Doral in Miami, United States.
