The U-18 Baseball World Cup 2022 is all set to launch in September 2022. It was previously scheduled for 2021. But for the COVID-19 pandemic situation, it was postponed. It will be held in Florida USA from, Friday, September 9 to Sunday, September 18.
Founded in 1981, this world cup focuses on the under-18 baseball players of all countries. The World Baseball Softball Confederation, also known as WBSC, and International Baseball Federation had sanctioned the tournament.
It was called the world junior championship until 2010. Cuba’s under-18 baseball team won the tournament 11 times, the USA team 9 times and the current defending champion Chinese Taipei team had the title 3 times. The IBAF officials have mentioned that the competition gets more intense and professional with each year forwarding.
This year, there will be 12 teams playing as well. They have been divided into 2 groups. The first game of the U-18 Baseball World Cup was held in the United States of America. So, they are thrilled to host it again in 2022. The last time they hosted the event was in 1995. There will be three medals awarded; gold, silver, and bronze. Cuba has the most medals till now, which is 18.
U-18 Baseball World Cup 2022:
The rounds of the U-18 Baseball World Cup will take place from 9 September to 18 September. The dates and schedules are set. 12 teams will be participating. The United States of America will be playing host to the events this time. The tournament will take place in Florida. It is set to open in Sarasota and Bradenton. Last year it took place in Gijang county, South Korea.
Defending Champion Team: Chinese Taipei
Chinese Taipei won the 2019 U-18 Baseball World Cup. It took place in Gijang, South Korea. Their opponent was the United States national under 18 baseball team. The USA team was the defending champion then, and Chinese Taipei took it from them.
They currently hold the second position in the world ranking of under 18 baseball games. They have won the U-18 Baseball World Cup three times. And they will be participating this time as well. With their three world-class pitchers Chen Po Yu, Lin Yu Min, Yu Chien, and other players like Wang shun Ho, and Lo Wie Chieh, the team stands strong and leads the probability ranks now.
