Oscar De la Hoya Suggests Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz as Rahman Jr. Pulls Out

Amidst all the controversies regarding the Paul vs Rahman fight cancellation, Oscar de La Hoya has come out and showed interest to make a fight between Jake Paul and Nate Diaz with the Golden Boy Promotion.

YouTuber turned boxer, Jake Paul was scheduled to fight Hasim Rahman Jr. on August 7 at the Madison Square Garden. However, 1 week before the event, the fight has been canceled due to disagreements between the camps of the two fighters on the weight issue.

The fight was supposed to occur at 205 lbs. But as per Rahman Jr, he could not cut to 205 and asked the Paul camp if they were okay with 215 lbs. Jake Paul and his camp refused to fight at 215. Both parties continued talks but could not come to a solution and as a result, the fight eventually got canceled.

Amidst all these, the founder of Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar De La Hoya has come out and stated his interest to make Jake vs Nate Diaz under the banner of his promotion.

The idea of Jake Paul and Nate Diaz fighting is not new. Jake Paul has been going back and forth on social media with the UFC superstar for a long time now. The YouTube sensation called out Diaz previously after his win against Tyron Woodley.

Diaz did not seem totally detached from the idea. “I’m into all the fights. Every fight. Anybody think they tough, they gon get it,” responded the Stockton native to TMZ.

Nate Diaz has only one fight left in his contract with the UFC. He will be a free agent after his scheduled fight against Khamzat Chimaev in UFC 280. A boxing venture does not seem far-fetched for him as a fight against Jake Paul will generate massive pay per views.  Moreover, with a renowned boxing promoter like Oscar De La Hoya willing to make the fight, it is likely that we will witness Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz in a boxing ring soon enough.
