The Ironman 70.3 is a triathlon race event organized annually by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC). It consists of a 1.9 km swim, a 90 km bike ride, and another 21.1 km run. Since its inauguration in 2006, it has been organized once a year.
In 2006, the Ironman 70.3 event was first held in Clearwater, Florida. For the following 4 years, the event was held at the same place. Then the organizing location started changing yearly. The first edition of the competition was won by Australian triathlete Craig Alexander.
The Ironman 70.3 World Championship in 2022 will have a $350,000 prize purse. The upcoming event will feature 4,281 male athletes and 2,158 female athletes. The event will include an Ironman Village near the venue area, as it does every year. There, participants can do on-the-spot registration, buy Ironman merch, store bikes, and more.
