M3C comes one step closer to qualifying for the Valorant Champions 2022 as they beat Team Liquid in the upper bracket final to reach the grand final of the 2022 VCT EMEA Last Chance Qualifier.
Despite the roster being released from their org Gambit Esports just days prior to the tournament, M3C entered LCQ as one of the hot favorites. The masters winner proved why they are still a world-class team as they cruised past teams like Acend and OG LDN UTD to reach the upper bracket finals.
Waiting for M3C in the upper bracket finals were Team Liquid. Similar to M3C, Team Liquid came to LCQ in the best shape. Liquid faced BBL and NaVi in the first two rounds of the bracket and beat them both convincingly by a 2-0 margin to make the upper finals.
With two of the most in-form EMEA teams facing each other in the upper bracket final, it was certain to be a banger of a match. After 3 nail-biting maps, the match stayed true to its promise as we got to witness some of the best competitive Valorant gameplay.
The map picks for the best of three were Breeze, Bind, and Icebox. M3C picked Breeze, whereas Liquid chose Bind. Following the map bans, Icebox remained to be played as the decider map.
The first two maps were relatively quiet as both teams shared a map-win with the same score of 13-8. Liquid won the opener in the breeze while M3C came back in the 2nd map, Bind to level the score.
The best was kept for the last as the teams joined the server to fight for the spot in the grand finals of EMEA LCQ. Initially, it looked like another one-sided map as M3C struck early and got themselves a lead of 12-6. However, the map was far from over. Team Liquid made a stunning come-back, winning six rounds in a row to force overtime.
Losing 6 map points did not make M3C lose their composure. They finally broke the momentum of Liquid as they saved a map point of their own at 13-12. After four hyper suspenseful overtimes which involved multiple clutches from both teams, M3C finally break through Liquid and won the map 18-16.
