Private matches are finally here with Apex Legend’s latest event: Spellbound

With the latest update we don’t need beg EA anymore for a custom match code to play private matches with friends.

Apex Legends have announced its latest event, the “Spellbound Collection Event.” Updates are scheduled to rollout for the event on January 10. While the event does feature some neat changes, the most exciting one will definitely be the ability to create private matches.

Yes, you’ve heard it right. After 15 official seasons, Respawn Entertainment have finally decided to add the feature of creating custom lobbies and play private matches that the community have been asking for ages. While most popular battle royale and competitive fps games like Fortnite, Warzone 2.0, Valorant, and Overwatch have the option for creating custom lobbies, Apex didn’t have such feature for everyone up until now.

While the feature itself was available within the game, not everyone could just create a lobby and send invite code to their friends unlike other games. To create a custom lobby, fans were required to request EA to be granted a custom lobby creation code. However, these codes were strictly reserved for pro players, tournament organizers, and only the most popular streamers.

Luckily, the developers will be uplifting this code requirement restriction with the upcoming Spellbound event. This means, anyone will be able to create a private match and share tournament code with their friends or intended audience. Some of custom match features are – 60 player, 5 observers, no XP progression, and it will support cross play like the base game modes.

This will be a great way for the community to boot up their custom rooms and practice various movement and explore various parts of the maps either solo or with friends, without getting worried about getting shot at.

In addition to the neat new feature, the upcoming Spellbound event will also bring a handful of cosmetics, and a new heirloom. This heirloom titled “the Showstoppers” will be exclusive to the beloved legend – Seer. Furthermore, along with the event fan favorite LTM “Control” will also return with reportedly a new map in the Broken Moon. Update for the event will roll out on next Thursday, January 10, 2023.
