Damien “kpii” Chok Sau-jing and Brizio “Hyde” Budiana have been fired from their jobs at Talon Esports, an esports team in Southeast Asia.
The statement was made almost three weeks after Talon finished in last place with Soniqs, BetBoom Team, and Team Solo Mid in the Group Stage of The International 11.
In a tweet, Talon thanked “our OG offlane pair” for making the team successful from open qualifiers to The International. “You both brought such great energy to the table, and you will always be thought of as part of the Talon family.”
Talon’s Dota 2 roster still has three active players: Rafli “Mikoto” Rahman, Worawit “Q” Mekchai, and Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon. The best carry player on the team is Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon.
Kim “Gabbi” Santos, Rafli “Mikoto” Rahman, kpii, and Hyde, all SEA veterans, were led by Tal “Fly” Aizik, the former leader of Evil Geniuses. They had high hopes for the DPC 2022 season.
At the beginning of the season, Talon did not move up from DPC SEA 2021/2022 Tour 1 Division II. In Tour 2, Q and 23savage took the place of Fly and Gabbi.
By coming in third in the DPC 2021/2022 SEA Tour 3 Division I, Talon got better and qualified for their first Dota 2 Major. They were kicked out of the PGL Arlington Major early because their group stage record was 5-11.
Through the SEA regional qualification, SEA earned a spot in The International 2022. After going 6-0 in the upper bracket, Talon beat Polaris Esports in the grand final by a score of 3-2.
At TI11, Talon had trouble again with international teams. After going 6-12 in Group B in TI11, the SEA team was on the verge of being eliminated. The team’s season was over after they lost to Entity 2-0 in the TI11 Playoffs tiebreaker.
After Talon’s roster switch, kpii said that he wants to join a team with a position 3 offlaner in any region. He says that becoming a coach is “a long shot, but not impossible.”
Hyde also wrote on Twitter that he wants to be a support player for a position 4 or 5. He will move anywhere for the next DPC season.
