AIG Women’s Open 2022 Picks: Favorites and Odds

This year the 46th edition of the tournament is scheduled to take place at the Muirfield golf course in East Lothian, Scotland from August 4-7.

The venue is hosting the women’s open for the first time. The field will feature 144 golfers and the total purse is set as $6,800,000 while the champion will be awarded a payout of $1,020,00. Anna Nordqvist is the defending champion this year. Sophia Popov and Hinako Shibuno won the titles in 2020 and 2019 respectively.

The Korean-born New Zealand professional golfer turned professional in 2013. She ranked No. 1 on February 2, 2015 at just 17 years of age, being the youngest player of either gender to rank that position in pro golf. Already having 23 wins in her kit, Lydia Ko will be the top favorite at the AIG Women’s Open 2022

Minjee Lee is just freaking good. The 26-year-old Australian golfer will be Australian golf’s first female world No.1 if she wins the AIG Women’s Open title. Hyo Joo Kim won the 2014 Evian Championship in her first major appearance. She set a record for the lowest 18-hole score at a major with a 61 in the first round in that event. South Korean professional golfer turned professional in 2014 and has 21 titles including 5 at the LPGA Tour.

Ko Jin-young, also known as Jin Young Ko, won the LPGA Korea Tour 10 times. The South Korean professional golfer finished second at the 2015 Ricoh Women’s British Open and won the 2017 LPGA KEB Hana Bank Championship. Turning professional in 2013, she has won 24 titles including 13 on the LPGA Tour.
