The BMW PGA Championship 2022 Purse is set to be $8 million. The winner of the tournament, Shane Lowry, will receive $1,333,330 for his spectacular performance at the event. His share makes up the standard 16.67 percent of the total payout in accordance with the European Tour’s prize money distribution chart.
Compared to the previous edition, no changes have been made to the purse and payouts. The 2021 BMW PGA Championship offered the same purse of $8 million and the winner of that tournament, Billy Horschel, took home the same amount of prize money ($1.33 million).
Not every participant is eligible for a share of the massive purse. This is a 36-hole cut tournament and only the top 65 earned themselves a payout. The runner-up, Rory McIlroy, is set to acquire $888,880 for placing 2nd, while the 65th placed golfer will get $18,400 for making the cut.
There are added incentives to win the event. Shane Lowry will improve his position in the world ranking, thanks to the approximate 38 Official World Golf Ranking points awarded for winning the event. He will also get DP World Tour 1,335 points, crucial to placing in the top 5 of the Race-to-Dubai standings.
