Fortinet Championship 2022: Schedule, How To Watch, Tee Times

The PGA Tour starts its journey of the new 2022-23 season from California with the Fortinet Championship. You will know about the Fortinet Championship 2022 here. 

Established in 2007, the professional golf tournament was previously known as the Safeway Open. Since last year, it has been named after its new title sponsor Fortinet. This year, the event will kick off on Thursday at the North Course of Silverado Resort and Spa in California, US.

The field will feature 156 players offering a total purse worth $8 million. The winner’s share is set at $1.44 million this year. The purse and winner’s prize money have increased from the previous edition.

Defending Champion: Max Homa

Home player John Maxwell Homa, known as Max Homa won the tournament last year while his fellow American Maverick McNealy became runner-up. Max claimed the title with a 1-stroke victory.

He was awarded $1,260,000 while the purse was $7 million. Max Homa has won four PGA Tour titles and two Korn Ferry Tour titles since turning professional in 2013. He has bagged the Wells Fargo Championship title this year for the second time after winning in 2019.

This year in the Fortinet Championship, he will defend his title against his top competitors like former Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama, Webb Simpson, Jason Day, Rickie Fowler, and Corey Conners. Matsuyama finished T6 in the previous edition.

When will the tournament be held?

The four rounds of the Fortinet Championship 2022 are scheduled to take place from Thursday, September 15 to Sunday, September 18, 2022.

The Fortinet Championship 2022 will take place at the Silverado Resort and Spa – North Course, located in Napa, California, United States.  It is one of the shortest courses on Tour but a very straightforward and scoreable one with an average winning score of 17-under par since 2014.
