DP World Tour is now in Scotland as the Hero Open 2022 is being played at the Fairmont St Andrews course in St Andrews, Fife, Scotland.

Many of the world’s most prominent golfers are absent in this year’s edition of the Hero Open. The Liv Golf event is underway at the same time as Hero Open. As a result, a lot of top players opted to play for the Liv Golf event instead as that tournament provides much better incentives in terms of purse and payout. 

Yet, a field of 156 golfers, along with the likes of Grant Forest, James Morrison, and Oliver Fisher are contesting to win this prestigious event. Scotland’s own Richie Ramsay, who won the Cazoo Classic last week, is also here and hoping to make it 2 tournament victories in a row.

Hero Open 2022 Purse and Payout:

The Hero Open 2022 Purse was announced to be €1,750,000. The winner of the tournament will receive €291,660. Along with this massive sum, the champion will also be awarded 460 race to Dubai points.

The winner’s share of the prize pool is the usual 16.67% in accordance with the European Tour’s prize money distribution chart. Whereas 1st and 2nd runner-ups will get a handsome amount of €194,440 and €109,550.

Compared to last year, the Hero Open 2022 Purse increased by €500,000 this year. In 2021, the total purse was €1,250,000 with the winner getting €189,530. However, even with the increased purse, the prize fund is still low compared to other concurrent golf events like the Liv Golf.

Not all participants are eligible for the Hero Open 2022 Purse and prize money. Of the 156 golfers, only the top 65 who proceed to the weekend following the 36-holes will be rewarded with a share of the €1,750,000 purse.
