The Players is also known as The Players Championship. It is an elite-level golf tournament under the annual PGA Tour calendar. The event is popular for featuring the best golfers on the tour with a lucrative amount of prize money. It is played over a four-day duration in a 72-par-based stroke play format.
This year, the event will hit its 68th annual edition. A total of 144 professional PGA Tour golfers will participate in the event. It recently announced a prize pool of $25 million with a winner’s share of $4.5 million. 49 out of the 50 top OWGR rankers will be present in the field. The defending champion, Cameron Smith will, unfortunately, be absent from the event due to being suspended from PGA Tour.
