Mediheal Championship 2022 is a professional women’s golf tournament currently underway at the Saticoy Club in Somis, California. The 4-day long tournament is scheduled to conclude on October 9. Established in 2018, LPGA Mediheal Championship is a relatively fresh tournament and the 28th event of the 2022 LPGA season. This year marks only the 4th edition of this 72-hole professional women’s golf event.
Despite being a new event, Mediheal Championship has appealed to top golfers since its inception. We observe the same this year as 16 of the top 50 players have arrived in Cali and are currently teeing it off at the beautiful golf course of Somis.
The field is of 120 players and is headlined by Sei Young Kim, Atthaya Thitikul, Danielle Kang, and Celine Boutier. The defending champion, Kim Sei-Young is also on the field. Mediheal Championship 2022 Purse and Payout:
The Mediheal Championship 2022 Purse is set to be $1,800,000, with the winner of the tournament receiving $270,000. The winner’s share is 15% of the total purse in accordance with the LPGA Tour’s prize money distribution chart.
Similar to many other LPGA tournaments this year, the purse of the 2022 Mediheal Championship increased this year. In 2021, the purse and total individual payouts to the players were $1,500,000, while the winner, Matilda Castren, bagged herself $225,000. We can see that the LPGA increased the prize pool by a whopping $300,000 and the winner’s share by $45,000.
Besides the lucrative prize money, there are added benefits to performing well in the tournament. The winner of the tournament will be awarded 500 points toward the Race to the CME Globe.
Not all the players are eligible for a share of the prize money. The top 70 players who make the cut after 36 holes will receive a payout. The runner-up will get $167,486, while the 70th-placed golfer takes home an amount of $3,668.
