Portland Classic 2022 Purse: Payout and Prize Money Breakdown

On September 15,  the LPGA Tour kicked off in Oregon for the 2022 Portland Classic. As of this moment, the event is practically over with only the last round left to play. The event will officially draw its curtain on September 18.

Since its launch in 1972, it has been a prominent competition. Its prestige as the oldest-running non-major tournament on the LPGA Tour has led many top female golfers to take part in this competition over the years. It’s the same story this year.

Defending Champion: Jin Young Ko

With 16 of the top 50 players in the Tour ranking competing, the event has the attention of tennis fans all around the world. The biggest names to be competing for the top prize are Nelly Korda, Brooke Henderson, Marina Alex, and Leona Maguire.

With such a talented lineup, the tournament was bound to be entertaining. As the event’s finale approaches, it has fulfilled its promise and provided a thrilling experience for spectators all across the world.

Portland Classic 2022 Purse and Payout:

The LPGA revealed that the Portland Classic 2022 Purse will be $1,500,000. The winner will get the customary 15% of the total prize money, which is $225,000.

The purse for the previous edition in 2019 was $1,400,000, and Ko Jin-young took home $210,000 as the champion. The Portland Classic slightly increased its prize money for this year, along with several other competitions on the women’s circuit. The prize pool has increased this year by $100,000, and the winner will also get an additional $15,000 in cash.

Incentives for winning the competition also exist. In the Race to the CME Globe rankings, the winner will receive 500 points. The CME Globe Tour Championship, the season’s last tournament, features the top 60 players in the final standings for a $1.5 million prize.

It is a 36-hole cut event that cuts to the top 70 and ties. Therefore, a contestant must finish in the top 70 to be qualified to receive a portion of the prize money. The 70th place finisher will get $3,057 from the total AmazingCre Portland Classic purse, while the first and second runners-up will receive $139,572 and $101,250 respectively.
