The Senior Open Championship 2022 Purse is set to be 2.5 million US dollars with the winner bagging $392,913 for himself as announced by PGA.
The prize money for the winner is the usual 15 percent of the tournament purse in accordance with the PGA Tour Champion’s prize money distribution chart. In the previous PGA Tour Champions season, the prize money was set at $2 million.
However, with the cancellation of the 2020 tournament due to Covid, the tournament was arranged in 2021 with a renewed prize money of $2.5 million. The same amount is kept this year with no changes in the purse
The field is of 144 players. Yet, only the top 70 will be eligible for prize money. The winner gets to take home $392,913 while the 1st and 2nd runner up receives $261,988 and $147,450 respectively. Whoever advances to the top 70 is guaranteed at least $4,375 from the Senior Open Championship 2022 Purse.
