2022 Thomas Cup: Schedule, How to Watch, Teams and Prizemoney

The 2022 Thomas Cup will be held on Sunday, May 8, at Bangkok’s Impact Arena. Here, you will know the schedule, venue, how to watch on television and live stream, teams, and a prize pool of the tournament.

Sixteen teams will compete in the final competition, held in November. This year’s tournament will have the same number of places allocated to each confederation as the previous year’s tournament: four slots apiece from Asia and Europe and one slot each from Africa, Oceania, and Pan America.

The host nation and the defending champion are both automatically qualified. The remaining quota will be filled based on the ranking of the global teams. The Thomas 2022 will feature 16 teams fighting against one other. Indonesia is the defending champion of the Thomas Cup.

Indonesia is the most successful team in the Thomas Cup, having won 14 championships, while China is the most successful team in the Uber Cup, having won 15 trophies.

When is the 2022 Thomas Cup?

The tournament will start on Sunday, May 8, and continue until Saturday, May 14. Here is the full schedule of the tournament.

2022 Thomas Cup Prizemoney:

The projected prize fund for each Cup is roughly $1 million. The winners will get nearly $120k, or around 8% of the overall prize pool.
Due to the pandemic, BMF permitted organizers to proceed with a smaller prize fund. So the prize pool might range from $1 million to $850k. China and Indonesia won the competition for roughly $100k-$80k.
