2023 FIDE Women’s Candidates Final: Schedule, TV, Live Stream, and Prize Distribution

The final stage of widely popular international women’s chess championship challenger tournament is ready to set off in Chongqing this Wednesday. Read the article to learn latest information related to the ongoing 2023 FIDE Women’s Candidates Final.


The Women’s Candidates Tournament is an eight-player based international women’s chess tournament. This popular event works as a qualification event for the Women’s World Chess Championship.

The chess event is held in two stages – first stage and final stage. Eight professional chess players from four countries qualify through various method in the event. Then the tournament is played through playoff format.

This year’s event is officially titled as “FIDE Women’s Candidates Final 2023.” First stage of the event has already concluded within December 11. Both the Chinese perticipants, Lei Tingjie and Tan Zhongyi qualified for the final this year.

Now the Chinese professionals are scheduled to face against each other in a best of 6 game. The games will be played over the span of ten days. Winner of the final will be taking on the defending Women’s World Chess Champion, Ju Wenjun.

2023 FIDE Women’s Candidates Final Schedule:

  • Start Date: Wednesday, March 29, 2023
  • End Date: Thursday, April 6, 2023
  • Time: 03:00 a.m. ET

The latest iteration of FIDE Women’s Candidates Final just launched with a drawing ceremony on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. Both finalists alongside some major key personals of FIDE such as current president Arkady Dvorkovic, vice president Xie Jun were present at the event.

Participants are scheduled to face against one another with the first game of best-of-6 Final at 03:00 a.m. ET on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. Their games will stretch till the following Tuesday, April 4, 2023. The event will officially conclude with a closing ceremony on next day April 5, 2023.

At the time, FIDE has yet to disclose any broadcast partnership with any television network. So, it is very unlikely that the event will be televised live on any TV channel in any location.
