Wimbledon 2022: Emma Raducanu’s Tough Draw, Murray Opens Against Duckworth

Ahead of Wimbledon 2022, the injured Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu learned who they will face in the first round of the competition.

So long as injuries don’t intervene, Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu know who they will face in the first round at Wimbledon. Both Murray and Raducanu have had problems in the time leading up to the grass-court event. As a result, it is still not clear if they will be able to compete.

Murray played in the most recent Stuttgart Open and made it to the final. This showed that he was well-prepared for the Grand Slam tournament that would be held in his home country. In the championship match, when he lost to Matteo Berrettini, the British competitor hurt again, which has been happening more and more often lately.

Injuries have also stopped Raducanu from getting ready for Wimbledon 2022. Just seven games into her first-round Nottingham Open match against Viktorija Golubic, the young phenom was forced to retire due to a leg injury.

Murray will play 77th-ranked Australian player James Duckworth in the first match of his season. It’s a contest he can easily win if he’s anywhere near peak physical condition. As a result of an injury, Duckworth hasn’t won any of his last nine matches in the ATP main event. Novak Djokovic, who is the defending champion, will play Kwon Soon-woo of South Korea to start his quest for a seventh title. Rafael Nadal, who is the second seed, will play Francisco Cerndolo of Argentina. His return to Wimbledon will have been his first in almost a year. Nadal wants to win his third grand slam title in a row.

Williams won’t have any trouble with her draw because she was given a good first round. This should help her find her range after taking a year off from tennis. Even though Harmony Tan plays professional tennis at the highest level, she hasn’t played much on grass courts before. She had never played on grass before Wimbledon the year before. However, in the main event of the tour, she is 0-7 in her last 8 games.

After taking such a long break, Serena Williams may face a big test of how long she can last in a rally when she faces the never-ending Sara Sorribes Tormo in the second round. But faster courts can show that the Spaniards don’t have any weapons. In the meantime, Williams might play the sixth seed Karolina Pliskova in the third round. After having surgery on her hand during the offseason, Pliskova has been in a lot of pain this year, as shown by her 8-10 record in 2022. She will have to work hard to get back into the shape that got her to the finals last year.

Iga Swiatek, the best player in the world, will start her match against Jana Fett, a qualifier. Swiatek will be trying to make it 36 matches in a row that she has won.
