The World Rugby Sevens Series’ premier rugby tournament is here once again. Prepare for another fiercely competitive rugby season as the 24th edition of the Hong Kong Sevens 2022 kicks off this Friday, October 4th.

Founded in 1976, the Hong Kong Sevens became one of the most hyped World Rugby Sevens Series tournaments very quickly. The Hong Kong Rugby Union (HKRU) annually organizes a three-day tournament. 28 teams from 22 countries participate in the event regularly.

The 2020 and 2021 iterations of the event were canceled due to the worldwide impact Covid 19 had. So, the upcoming 2022 Hong Kong Sevens will be a return to the regular season since 2019.

Fiji has been the tournament’s undisputed champion since 2015. As a result, fans are eager to see if the team can maintain its winning streak or if another team finally grabs the crown after a two-year absence.

The Hong Kong Sevens 2022 will begin this Friday, November 4. As usual, the event will run for 3 days, ending on Sunday, November 5. The event’s inaugural match between, Ireland and Kenya is scheduled to begin at 03:40 a.m. ET.
