Auckland’s hard court tennis event is making a return at the beginning of 2023 as the upcoming 2023 ASB Classic on Monday.

Auckland Open is an ATP & WTA joint tennis event held in New Zealand. The annual event features four different tournaments for men’s and women’s discipline. These are –

The 2023 Auckland Open is titled “ASB Classic 2023” due to sponsorship with ASB Bank. This 45th iteration will be played on outdoor hard court like every year.
Casper Rudd is the leading seed of this year’s ASB Classic. The Norwegian with 9 singles titles is currently ranked 3rd on ATP international standings. Last year, he was finalist in both the French Open and US Open. Rudd also reached 2nd position, his highest lead in the ATP leaderboard.
Following Rudd, Danish professional Holger Rune is currently the 2nd seed of ASB Classic. The 19-year-old youngster quickly climbed the ATP rankings to reach 11th position just within two years of turning pro. Rune won the Bavarian International Tennis Championships, Stockholm open, Rolex masters, and reached the quarterfinals of French Open in 2022. This pushed his rankings from out of top-100 to within top-10 in just one year.
The British professional, Cameron Norrie is holding the 3rd seed at the ASB Open. This 4-singles title holder is ranked 14th in the ATP standings at present. He reached the third round of the French Open, the semifinals at Wimbledon, and 4th round of the US Open last year. These achievements pushed his international standings to 8th position last September.

The upcoming ASB Classic will initiate the WTA Tour tournament on this Monday, January 2, 2023, with a round of 32. The first match of round 32 is scheduled for 07:30 p.m. ET. Following the completion of the women’s event, Men’s events are scheduled for the next Thursday, January 9, 2023
