The tournament is a women’s professional tennis tournament from the 500 series, organized by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). This year marks the third edition of the tournament which is scheduled to take place from October 3-9 on indoor hard courts at the Ostrava Arena in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Anett Kontaveit won the title of the Ostrava Open last year. It took her to defeat Sorana Cirstea, Belinda Bencic, Paula Badosa, and Petra Kvitova to reach the final. She defeated Greece’s Maria Sakkari, 6–2, 7–5 in the final. It brought her second title of the year.

The Estonian professional tennis player ranked her career-best world No. 2 on the WTA rankings on 6 June 2022. It made her the highest-ranked Estonian player ever in history.
