The 2022 edition of the popular ATP Finals made its debut on November 13 and will run till November 20. The competition is now hosting its group stage with eight seeds of the highest caliber. Among these, the match between current ATP ranking third Stefanos Tsitsipas and eighth Novak Djokovic is especially critical.

Unfortunately, Djokovic was forced to miss a large amount of the season because of vaccine restrictions in some countries. He has however been able to stay at the top in singles. He won his 21st Grand Slam title at Wimbledon 2022. Additionally, he won three more titles in the Astana Open, Tel Aviv Open, and Italian Open.

In 2022, Tsitsipas’ campaign was pretty consistent. At the Mallorca Open, he successfully claimed his first grass court championship. He also successfully defended his championship in the Monte Carlo Masters. Unfortunately, he underperformed at this year’s Grand Slam tournaments. In the recent Paris Masters, he reached to the semifinals. Notably, Tsitsipas previously won his ATP Finals debut in 2019.

Novak Djokovic vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Head-to-Head:

Participant Win Win Ratio
Novak Djokovic 9 82%
Stefanos Tsitsipas 2 18%

Novak Djokovic is a Serbian tennis legend, currently ranked 8th in ATP Singles leaderboard. His opponent, the Greek professional tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas is ranked 3rd in the same leaderboard. They have met on the court 11 times so far. On a long run of nine victories, compared to Tsitsipas’ two, Djokovic has a big advantage.

They first met at the ATP Masters 1000 Canada in 2018. Tsitsipas earned the victory in that outdoor game. The following year, they had their second face-off at the ATP Masters 1000 Madrid with Djokovic taking the victory. Most recently, they met at the ATP Masters 1000 Paris. Djokovic earned his 9th victory over Tsitsipas at the semifinal game there.

Novak Djokovic vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Prediction:

As stated above, Djokovic holds a large edge over Tsitsipas on experience. As their head-to-head odd is currently sitting at 9-2. In addition, when considering their recent performance, the result doesn’t change much.

Even after failing to participate in multiple events due to covid restrictions, Djokovic easily maintained his top-10 position with excellent performance. He added a new grand slam and 3 open titles in his win list. Whereas, while Tsitsipas had a good run, he didn’t achieve much other than his first grass open event and one title defense. Additionally, his performance at the Grand Slam and major Masters event wasn’t much remarkable this year.

Right now, Novak Djokovic unquestionably has the advantage in the odds. But if Stefanos Tsitsipas can make the necessary preparations, recent adjustments to his playing style may give him a chance at the upcoming game.
