Silicon Valley Classic 2022: Schedule, Live Stream and Top Seeds

The WTA Tour has arrived in California as the 2022 Silicon Valley Classic is ready to start on the 1st of July in San Jose, California, USA. Here you will find all the information regarding this year’s edition of the tournament.

Since its inception in 1971, this California-based event has always taken place outdoors on the Hard Court surface.

Despite being a WTA 500 tournament, many top players of women’s tennis over the years have taken part in it for its rich history of being the oldest women’s only tournament. This year is no different.

The participant list of this year’s Silicon Valley Classic includes 5 of the top 10 players on the current WTA rankings.

Defending Champion: Danielle Collins

The No. 1 seed for the 2022 Silicon Valley Classic is the Greek, Maria Sakkari. Sakkari is currently world no. 3 in the WTA ranking. The 27-year-old is having a decent year reaching multiple finals on the tour including the Indian Wells Open. Although she is yet to win a trophy this year, her consistent results helped her to rank 3rd in the world. Her last tournament was the 2022 Wimbledon Championship where she got knocked out of the tournament in the third round. However, coming fresh to this tournament, Maria Sakkari is determined to put on a dominant performance as the top seed.

Paula Badosa is the 2nd seed in the Silicon Valley Classic 2022 tournament. The Spaniard is having the best year of her career reaching a career-high no. 2 in the WTA ranking. She fell off a bit in the middle of the year and is now entering the tournament as world no. 4. Yet, the 24-year-old remains one of the favorites to win the whole thing.

The 3rd seed is world no. 5, Ons Jabeur from Tunisia. In 2022, Jabeur made her debut in the top 5 reaching as high as no. 2 in the world. She is riding on massive momentum as she reached the Finals in the 2022 Wimbledon Championship before losing to the eventual victor, Elena Rybakina.

The reigning champion, Danielle Collins has withdrawn from the tournament.
