Tel Aviv Open 2022: Schedule, How to Watch, Purse and Top Seeds

Tennis is making its return to Tel Aviv for the first time since 1999 with the Tel Aviv Open 2022. Here is everything you need to know about the event.

Also known as Tel Aviv Watergen Open 2022, this event is set to be part of the ATP 250 series. It used to be a regular event on the tour before 2000. However, war has caused the cancellation of it for security reasons. In 2022, it is finally back and will be played on indoor hard courts.

Tel Aviv Open has a solid player base in 2022 as evident from the many strong players that have already arrived in the capital of Israel. Of those who are confirmed to participate, Novak Djokovic is the sole representative of the top 10 players in the world. However, players like Marin Čilić, Diego Schwartzman, Botic van de Zandschulp, and Dominic Thiem are also among the competitors, and they are all eyeing the championship trophy.

The 22-time grand slam champion, Novak Djokovic is playing the tournament as the first seed. Rublev had a brilliant year in 2022. Along with a major title, the 2022 Wimbledon Championship, he won a Masters 1000 title in Rome. The 35-year-old Serb looks forward to keeping up his form as he sets foot in Tel Aviv.

The No.2 seed for the tournament is Marin Čilić. Hurkacz is ranked 16th at the moment in the world rankings. Although Cilic made his return to the top 20 with the help of the French Open semi-final appearance, he is yet to win a singles title on the tour this season. The Croatian tennis star aims to end his title drought in Tel Aviv.

Seed no. 3 is Diego Schwartzman from Argentina. In 2022, Schwartzman found some success earlier in the season when reached two finals in Rio and Buenos Aires. However, the 30-year-old failed to win both. Coming in as 3rd seed in this tournament, he is among the favorite to win the tournament.

When will the Tel Aviv Open 2022 be held?

The 2022 Tel Aviv Open will start on September 26 and conclude on October 2.
