WTA National Bank Open 2022: Schedule, How to Watch, and Prize Money

The 120th edition of the WTA National Bank Open is on the horizon as the WTA Tour heads to Toronto. Here is all the information you need regarding WTA National Bank Open 2022:

The National Bank Open presented by Rogers, formerly known as the Canadian Masters and Roger’s Cup is a prestigious tennis tournament contested on the outdoor hard court. This WTA 1000 event is one of two master’s tournaments held prior to the US Open Championship at the end of August.

Canadian Open is the oldest tennis event second only to the Wimbledon championship. This event inaugurated the women’s competition in 1892 and it has been around since.

The 2022 National Bank Open is scheduled to begin on the 8th of August at the Sobeys Stadium in the capital of Canada. Historically, all top female players have rarely let the chance to play here slide as the event is considered to be one of the most reputable tennis tournaments ever.

In 2022, the WTA National Bank Open is getting ready to deliver an action-packed event as the tournament features all the top 10 female players, including world no. 1 Iga Świątek. All of them have arrived aiming to snatch the glory here in Toronto. Other big names that are joining are Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka, Coco Gauff, and Victoria Azarenka.

Defending Champion: Camila Giorgi

The No. 1 seed of the 2022 WTA National Bank Open is the world no. 1 Iga Swiatek. The 21-year-old is having a phenomenal year. This year, she won six straight tournaments, including the French Open and four WTA 1000 championships.

She won 37 consecutive matches during this incredible run before ultimately falling to Alize Cornet in the third round of Wimbledon. Having been eliminated early from the Poland Open, Świątek is eager to regain her previous form in the National Bank Open.

The 2nd seed for the tournament is Anett Kontaveit. The 26-year-old is currently ranked 2nd in the world. Although the Estonian tennis star won only one title this year (St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy), her consistency has been impressive throughout the year.

Maria Sakkari is the 3rd seed of the WTA National Bank Open 2022. The 27-year-old Greek has had a moderately successful year, reaching various tour finals, including the Indian Wells Open.

Sakkari will try to shrug off her first-round elimination from Silicon Valley Classic as she aims to put on a dominant performance in the center court of Sobeys.
