After two years of cancellation, WTA Thailand Open 2023 is returning to the regular WTA calendar as a WTA 250 series event on Monday.

Hua Hin Championship first made debut in 2019 as a WTA International series tennis event. It featured both singles and doubles competition for women’s discipline. However, after two years of successful organization, the event was removed from WTA calendar.
This year, the popular Hua Hin Championship is returning with a new sponsor, Toyota. It’s title has been officially changed to “Toyota Thailand Open 2023”. The event will be a WTA 250 series event under WTA Tour. The hard-court outdoor event has announced $259,303 prize pool for its latest iteration.
WTA singles 46th professional Bianca Andreescu is the leading seed at the Thai event. The Canadian professional was recently upset by Cristina Bucsa during the second round of Australian Open 2023.
Yulia Putintseva is the second seed at Thailand Open this year. The Kazakhstani professional is ranked 51st at the WTA singles. She recently reached the quarterfinals at the Hobart International 2023 and the second round of Australian Open 2023.
Chinese professional Wang Xiyu is seeded 3rd at present. The 21-year-old professional has already reached career highest 49 rank in WTA singles this January 9. Last year in US Open, she defeated Maria Sakkari, who was seeded 3rd in the event. However, she lost during the 3rd round.

Thailand Open 2023 has been announced to initiate on Monday, January 30, 2023. First round of the event will start around 02:00 a.m. ET with the first two games in center court and court 1. The WTA 250 event will be a week-long one this year.
