The 41st edition of the Japan Open Badminton Championships 2022 is currently underway at the Maruzen Intec Arena in Osaka, Japan, having started on the 30th of August.

Officially known as  Daihatsu Yonex Japan Open Badminton Championships 2022, this BWF World Tour Super 750 event is an annual badminton tournament held in Japan. The tournament was first held in 1977 and has been held every year since then. The tournament is one of the most prestigious badminton tournaments in the world and is often considered the Japanese equivalent of the All England Open Badminton Championships.



Similar to previous editions, the 2022 Japan Open is open to all players from around the world and is divided into two categories: singles and doubles. The tournament features some of the best badminton players in the world and is always highly competitive. The men’s singles event is always the most anticipated event of the tournament and is often considered the highlight of the tournament.



Even after the withdrawal of the world champion Viktor Axelsen, the tournament had one of the strongest player fields of the year. The top seed in the absence of Axelsen is Kento Momota. Other top players in the draw include Anders Antonsen, Chou Tien-chen, and Lee Zii Jia.
