Juventus FC; Transfer activities so far

Juventus was the strongest side of Serie A in the last decade. They won 9 scudetto in a row including plenty of domestic titles. They reached the UCL final twice in 4 years. However, some ambitious buying didn’t help them to achieve their desired goal.

For instance, they signed Cristiano Ronaldo for more than 100 million & which derailed them. The covid pandemic hit them badly also. Therefore, they didn’t win the scudetto for the last two seasons. But they try to revive their glory days. Massimiliano Allegri was appointed as the head coach again and so far, they’re very active in the transfer market also. Let’s take a look at the summer business of the Old Ladies of Torino so far.

Incomings:

Gleison Bremer:

Bremer is one of the most sought-after defenders in Italy after his impressive last season with Torino. Inter Milan also signed the 25-year-old player but the last laugh here is of Juventus as they signed him for €41m.

Federico Chiesa:

Italian forward Chiesa spent the last season at the Allianz Arena as a loanee from Fiorentina. He impressed with his pace and attacking ability and Juventus signed him permanently for a fee of €40m. He’ll be a key player for them in the upcoming season.

Filip Kostic:

Juventus forked out €12m for midfielder Kostic from E. Frankfurt.

Andrea Cambiaso:

Cambiaso played for Serie B side Genoa last season and Juventus bought the left-back for €8.50m.

Paul Pogba:

Juventus did a great job when they signed Pogba from Manchester United in 2012 for free. He gave them a lot on the pitch and left Italy for his boyhood club. Juventus earned €85m from that transfer. 5 years later, Pogba again left United for free and Juventus again signed him for free.

Angel Di Maria:

Angel Di Maria left PSG after seeing out his contract. He joined the Italian side for free.

Departures:

Matthijs De Ligt:

Bayern signed the Dutch defender from Juventus for a fee of €67m.

Merih Demirel:

Juventus sold another defender this season. They sold Demirel to Atlanta for €20m.

Rolando Mandragora:

Rolando was loaned out last season and this time the club decided to sell him permanently. Fiorentina signed him for €8.50m.

Giacomo Vrioni:

Vrioni is sold to the MLS side Toronto for €3.50m.

A host of players left the club after their contracts expired. Some of them were important to them. The likes of Paulo Dybala, Federico Bernerdeschi, Giorgio Chiellini, Aaron Ramsey, and Douglas Costa said goodbye to the Allianz Arena this season.

Rumours:

Juventus aren’t done yet with the business. They intend to add more firepower to the squad. Barcelona’s Memphis Depay and Napoli’s Milik are on their radar. Adrien Rabiot could leave the club before the end of the season though he has no particular suitor currently.
