The latest ISPS Handa Australian Open is the 105th official iteration of the long-running golf tournament. It is co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and PGA Tour of Australasia. In addition, Golf Australia officially owns and organizes it. The event features two different competitions for both male and female discipline.
The 2022 edition is a return of the event following two years of cancelation. Therefore, there has been a surge in both participants and viewers this year. A total of 288 professional golfers participated in the first round. The field consists of 156 male and 108 female participants.

Handa Australian Open 2022 Purse:
The Handa Australian Open 2022 Purse is AUD$3.4 million. This will be equally divided between men’s and women’s event standings. Therefore, the actual purse pool for the tournaments is AUD$ 1.7 million each.
In contrast, the previous 2019 Emirates Australian Open boasted an AUD$1.5 million purse. Thus, individual standings of this year are expected to see a modest raise in their prize money. Also, only the top 70 people to make a cut during the initial round will receive a share of the purse like the previous year.
This year’s champion at the event is set to receive AUD$270,000 as prize money. Which is unexpectedly the same as what the defending champion Matt Jones received in 2019. However, the runner-up position holder will receive AUD$ 179,500 as prize. This is a reasonable 15% increment over previous runner-up Louis Oosthuizen’s $153,000 purse.
This year’s 68th, 69th and 70th position holders will earn AUD$3,230, AUD$2,069, and AUD$2 ,950 respectively.
