LIV Golf Bedminster Round 2 Preview:
Patrick Reed and Henrik Stenson— both major winners played in their top form and finished the first round with matching 7-under 64s to share the lead on Friday. Stenson, being self-satisfied with his focus, called it his best this year. The two leaders are followed by Phachara Khongwatmai with -5 points, Dustin Johnson and Carlos Ortiz both with -4 points in the individual player standings.
Meanwhile, in the team competition, Reed and captain Dustin Johnson led 4 Aces GC’s scoreboard. The Portland winning team (-11) led Stenson’s Majesticks GC (-10) by one stroke. According to the leaderboard, Iron Heads GC, Smash GC, and Fireballs GC are standing at the 3rd, 4th and 5th positions with -6, -5, and -5 points respectively.
Notably, four players made their debuts in LIV Golf yesterday. Here’s how their debut day went:
- Henrik Stenson (64) – Hit 17 of 18 greens and 13 of 14 fairways with 8 birdies.
- Charles Howell III (68) – Had three birdies in his first seven holes and needed just 27 putts.
- Jason Kokrak (69) – Hit 15 of 18 greens in regulation but needed 32 putts.
- Paul Casey (72) –Recorded his lone birdie on his final hole of the day.
