Kylian Mbappe is a professional footballer in France’s national Team and Ligue 1 club Paris-Saint-Germain. He is the king of dribbling abilities, exceptional speed, and finishing. He is the 2nd most expensive player. He started his career in 2015 and now he is the Fifa World Cup Best Young Player.

Early Life:

Mbappe’s birthplace is in Paris and was raised in Bondy, Seine-Saint-Denis, Paris. His father, Wilfried is a football coach and his mother, Fayza Lamari, is a former handball player. In 2008,  His brother, Ethan played for PSG’s under-12 squad. Mbappe’s adoptive brother, Ekoko is also a professional football player. Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo Nazario, and Cristiano Ronaldo were his favorite players. For some time period in his childhood, Mbappe received Robinho’s number 70 shirt as a gift from a nanny whose entire family were A.C. Milan fans. But his favorite team is always Real Madrid.

Early career:

Mbappe made his career debut at AS Bondy, coached by his father. At last, he moved to the Clairefontaine academy. A host of impressive performances led to multiple French clubs, and Real Madrid, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich, attempting to sign him. Then Real Madrid invited Mbappe to train with their under-12s. At age of 14, he went to London after an invitation by Chelsea to play a match for their youth team against Charlton Athletic. Then He settled for Monaco.

2015–16 (Development):

In 2015, Mbappe made his first team debut in a 1–1 Ligue 1 home draw against Caen.

In 2016, Mbappe scored his first goal for the club’s first team, at the age of 17 years. He signed his first professional contract for a 3 years deal. 

2016–17 (Breakthrough and league title):

In 2016, Mbappe scored the first hat-trick of his first team career in the 7–0 rout of Rennes in the Coupe de la Ligue.

In 2017, Mbappe scored the first Ligue 1 hat-trick of his career in the 5–0 home win over Metz. Then he became the youngest player to score a Ligue 1 hat-trick. Then he became the second youngest French scorer in UEFA Champions League history behind Karim Benzema) in the UEFA Champions League. He scored two first-half goals in Ligue 1 home win over Nantes to bring his Ligue 1 career tally to ten goals. Mbappe completed the 2016–17 season with 26 goals.

Paris Saint-Germain:

2017–18 (World record transfer and treble):

In 2017, Mbappe signed Paris Saint-Germain from Monaco on loan. He wanted to find a demanded club where he could be sure of a starting place. The fee required for a full transfer was set at a rumored €180 million which made him the most expensive transfer behind Neymar. He was handed the number 29 shirt. He scored on his debut at Metz. Four days later, Mbappe recorded his first European goal for Les Parisien. He played as PSG and won 2–0 against Les Herbiers to support the 2017–18 Coupe de France.

2018–19 (Ligue 1 Player of the Year):

In 2018, Mbappe was given the number 7 jersey for the upcoming season with PSG. He scored twice against Guingamp in Ligue 1. In the next league game, the front three of Mbappe, Cavani, and Neymar all scored to win over Anger. He scored and won over Nimes. He scored four goals in the victory over Lyon. Then he became the youngest player to score four goals in one game. Mbappe was the inaugural winner of the Kopa Trophy at the age of 21.

In 2019, Mbappe was one of two players to score a hat-trick against Guingamp, breaking a record PSG set the previous season. Then he scored a goal in a 2–0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Champions League. Then he scored twice in a 2–1 away win over Caen and scored a hat-trick in a 3–1 win against Monaco. PSG finished the season as Ligue 1 champions, with Mbappe winning the Player of the Year award and also finishing the season as the top goalscorer with 33 goals.

2019–20 (Back-to-back league top goalscorer):

In 2019, Mbappe scored in a 2–1 win over Rennes to capture the 2019 Trophee des Champions. Then he scored again in PSG’s opening Ligue 1 match of the season to win over Nimes. He came off the bench and scored a perfect hat-trick in a 5–0 away win over Belgian side Club Brugge. In 2019-20, Mbappe finished the season as the joint-top scorer in Ligue 1 with 18 goals. But he was considered the title top scorer.

In 2020, Mbappe played for PSG against Saint-Etienne in Coupe de France Final and PSG won the match 1–0. But he was ruled out of the 2020 Coupe de la Ligue Final. He returned to action in the Champions League quarter-final against Atalanta and assisted Choupo-Moting’s winning goal in injury time. But PSG lost out in the Champions League final.

2020–21 (Third-time top scorer):

For COVID-19 Mbappe missed the first three matches of the season for France’s national team. In 2020, Mbappe returned to play against Nice and won against Nice by scoring a penalty kick goal. Then he recorded two assists for Moise Kean in a Champions League group stage victory against Istanbul Basaksehir. Hescored his 100th goal against Montpellier. He became the fifth player to achieve the feat for the Parisian club. He also became the youngest player in Champions League history to reach 20 goals.

2021–22 (Player of the Year ):

In 2021, Mbappe played PSG’s opening home match of the 2021–22 season against Strasbourg. This match ended in a 4–2 victory for the PSG with Mbappe’s three of his team’s goals. Then he scored his 1st goal of the season against Brest. In the next match, Mbappe did score 2 goals against Reim’s victory. Then he scored  2 goals against Manchester City in the Champions League at the City of Manchester Stadium. He scored two goals against Club Brugge and won in the Champions League. Mbappe scored a brace against Monaco for PSG. At 22 years old, he became the youngest player to score 100 goals. 

In 2022, Mbappe scored his first hat-trick of the season against Vannes. Then he scored the winning goal in stoppage time in against Renne. He became the 3rd player to accomplish the Ligue 1 top scorer in an order of 4 seasons. He became the first player providing 17 assists in the season to finish as both top scorer and top assist player in Ligue 1 history.

International career:

Youth career and early senior career:

In 2016, Mbappe made his debut in senior season for France. This season, they won the 2016 UEFA European Under-19 Championship.

In 2017, Mbappe was called up to the senior France squad for the first time to face Luxembourg and Spain. He made his debut in FIFA World Cup 2018 qualification. He scored his first senior international goal against the Netherlands in a World Cup Qualification 2018. He scored a brace against Russia in 2018.

2018 FIFA World Cup:

In 2018, Mbappe was called up to the France squad for World Cup in Russia. He scored his first World Cup goal against Peru and won the match. He was the second teenager to score a brace in a World Cup match. Then he scored against Croatia in the 2018 World Cup Final. He became the 2nd teenager to score in a World Cup Final. He received the FIFA World Cup Best Young Player Award with 4 goals in the tournament.

Euro qualifying 2020  and UEFA Nations League 2020–21:

In 2019, Mbappe scored his 100th career goal against Andorra in Euro 2020 qualifying.

In 2020, He scored the only goal for France against Sweden. After victim of COVID-19 positive, he made his return to play for France in a 7–1 victory against Ukraine. Then he scored the match-winning goal in a 2–1 win against Croatia.

UEFA Euro 2020:

In 2021, Mbappe was called up for the France squad for UEFA Euro 2020. He scored one goal and later assisted one in a group stage match against Germany. He assisted for Karim Benzema’s first goal in France’s match against Switzerland but Mbappe failed to score the fifth penalty, and France was eliminated from the tournament.

UEFA Nations League Finals2021 and World Cup Qualification 2022:

In  2021, Mbappe assisted Benzema and later scored a goal himself from the penalty to defeat Belgium 3–2. In the final, he once again set up Benzema and for himself to victory over Spain. Mbappe was awarded the Golden Boot known as the “Alipay Top Scorer Trophy” with two goals and two assists in the Nations League Finals. He scored his first goals in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan. Three days later, He scored and set up Benzema again to win over Finland in France’s last World Cup qualifier.
