ATP National Bank Open 2022: Schedule, How to Watch, and Top Seeds

The penultimate masters 1000 event before the US Open is upon the tour as the ATP players prepare for the National Bank Open 2022. This will serve you as an essential guide to all the actions in Montreal as we provide you with all the necessary information, including the schedule, Livestream, prize money, and top seeds.

The ATP National Bank Open presented by Rogers, otherwise known as the Canadian Open, is a masters 1000 event played on the outdoor hard courts. It is one of the two ATP masters tournaments played in August before the final grand slam of the year, the US Open.

The 2022 ATP National Bank Open is scheduled to begin on August 8 at the IGA Stadium in Montreal, Canada. This year marks the 132nd edition of the men’s tournament.

An ATP masters tournament with such a rich history is bound to attract all the top players. This year, some of the best men’s tennis players will grace the court of Montreal, including world number 1, Daniil Medvedev. However, some of the big names like Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal are absent this year.

Defending Champion:  Daniil Medvedev

Reigning champion Daniil Medvedev has returned to defend his title. He is back this year, being the number 1 seed in the tournament. The reigning US Open Champion is a clear favorite to win the Canadian Open this year.

Medvedev reached a career-high world number 1 this year. Although he is yet to win a tournament this year, 2022 was far from a poor year for the 26-year-old. The Russian played three finals in 2022, including the Australian Open, where he lost to Rafael Nadal in a five-and-a-half-hour marathon match.

No. 2 seed is Carlos Alcaraz. Currently ranked 4th in the world, Alcaraz is having a massive year, winning four titles in 2022, including two masters 1000 titles in Madrid and Miami. The 20-year-old Spaniard will be eyeing his 3rd masters 1000 title of the year as he steps foot in Montreal.

The 3rd seed of the ATP National Bank Open 2022 is Stefano Tsitsipas. After reaching his peak ranking in late 2021, Tsitsipas dropped out of the top 3 in 2022. He is now world number 5. Despite some early exits, the 23-year-old Greek did find some success as he defended his Monte-Carlo masters title. He also won his maiden title on grass.
