Johnathan Hankins is a professional football defensive tackle in America’s Las Vegas Raiders in the National Football League (NFL). He attended Ohio State’s College Football. From college football, he received All-American honors. He was drafted by the New York Giants in NFL Draft 2013. He also attended the Indianapolis Colts.

Early Years:

Hankins’s birthplace is in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. He started his high school football career in his first year as a 255-pound offensive guard. In his next year, he transferred to Southeastern High School. There he started on the defensive line. He was regarded as a 3-star recruit by Rivals.com.

College career:

From 2010-212, Hankins studied and played for Ohio State Buckeyes football in Ohio State University. He made the Buckeyes rotation and recorded 16 tackles. The next year, he played with 67 tackles and three sacks. In the 2012 junior season, he was selected as a first-team All-Big Ten Conference. He got first-team All-American honors from Scout.com.

Professional career:

Hankins entered his junior season in 2012. In preseason mock drafts, he was listed as a mid-first-rounder for the 2013 NFL Draft. In mid-season, he had moved up to a top-10 spot. He announced that he would leave his final year of eligibility and wanted to enter the 2013 NFL Draft.

New York Giants:

In 2013, Hankins was drafted by the New York Giants in the NFL Draft. After Linval Joseph left the Giants.

In 2014, Hankins was awaited to come into his role known as a run stuffer. He showed slushes as a pass rusher recording 7 sacks, 6 QB hits, and 21 hurries. He exceeded expectations as he recorded 51 tackles, 7 sacks, and a forced fumble. He was known to Pro Football Focus’ AllPro Team as Defensive Tackle.

In 2015, Hankins cut off his pectoral muscle.

In 2016, Hankins returned from his injury and recorded 3.0 sacks and 43 tackles. He also made the playoffs debut in his career.

Indianapolis Colts:

In 2017, Hankins signed a three-year with the Indianapolis Colts. His payment contract was $30 million. He played 15 games recording 44 tackles and 2 sacks.

In 2018, Colts released Hankins.

Oakland / Las Vegas Raiders:

In 2018, Hankins signed with the Oakland Raiders. He attended in 15 games with 14 starts, recording 36 combined tackles and 2 fumble recoveries.

In 2019, Hankins signed a two-year extension with the Raiders.

During COVID-19, he was on the reserve/COVID-19 list by the Raiders. Then he was activated three days later.

In 2021, the Raiders re-signed Hankins to a one-year $3.5 million contract.

In 2022, Hankins re-signed with the Raiders.
